PERFORMANCES AND WORKSHOPS
WORKSHOPS, DRAMATURGY & PERFORMANCE FACILITATION
Matt Fletcher, OUT THERE ACTIONS' Artistic Director, has over thirty years' experience of teaching, directing and performance making with groups of all ages, from primary to adult. He holds a PGCE in Secondary Drama and has taught in secondary schools and Further Education colleges. He has also worked in universities as Senior Lecturer in Acting and Performance, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has run a Theatre-in-Education company and a 150-member youth theatre, as well as adult education classes and community workshops, and has written and directed plays and events in a wide variety of community contexts.
Matt offers a range of focussed and highly practical performance workshops, targeted specifically at GCSE, A-level/BTEC and Degree-level groups. Workshops are available in the following areas:-
- Outdoor/street performance
- Physical theatre (concentrating on Lecoq and Meyerhold technique)
- Devising processes and performance making
- Audition technique (including individual tutoring)
- Creative approaches to working with text
- Developing experimental and avant-garde performance
These are available as LIVE workshops only, and are not offered online.
Matt is also happy to work as a dramaturg and facilitator in the development of performance material, acting as script consultant, performance coach, outside eye and/or director, as required. He has evolved an effective process of developing improvisation into scripted material, allowing participants to feel direct ownership of sophisticated and polished dramatic text, and this approach is available if appropriate.
All workshop, facilitation and performance making activities are governed by the desire to harness and enhance the inherent creative imagination of each of those involved.
